As far as "Brain damage' you should look up Neuroplasticity. I chalk it up to being high on drugs for so long, then constantly high on sub for months/years due to the 34hr 1/2 life "changes" the brain.. so when you stop, the brain needs to find a "new normal". depending on how long you were on sub, seems to have a lot to do with 'recovery times'

Its a asprin/caffeine powder thats sold it little sleeves. You pour it on your tongue, tastes like crap. its sold almost everywhere (in the US) grocery stores, pharmacies. 7-11.. but you have to look for them. Only advantage over a cup of coffee and a few aspirins is they seem to work fast and slightly better

Your posts are helping me a ton through this journey. I'm on day 19 today and most symptoms are gone other then laziness fatigue runny nose and sneezing. I'm hoping next week is better as I've been working outside in 95 degree heat this entire time and my work is starting to show how bad I've been. This is a journey i've taken on my own and have basically hidden from anyone around me. It's simple the first 5 days to say your sick what about the next 30? Anyways I know there's hope at the end of the tunnel from your posts. Thank you SIR

It only gets physically easier from here snow. I'm a little past 60 days and haven't felt that horrible acute sickness since day 16 about. So keep your head up! You are doing amazing with what you've been through! When I was in my first couple of weeks, I'd go and see if my symptoms matched Ratch's post. I don't know why but it was so comforting to see someone's feelings. You just don't feel so alone. But, yea keep it up guys!

So true, when you feel alone in this journey it adds to the pain. It's nice reading peoples road maps even though they all vary. Today is day 22 and doing better just need some more energy and to ditch this anxiety for the first hour in the morning. The subs also must have prevented me from having allergy fits because now i'm in a sneezy/runny eye daze. But it kinda helps me realize how messed up my brain really is. Here's hoping next week I'll have the energy to play with my 3 yr old after a day of work. Right now once I get home from work i'm jelly! Thanks for your words.

You should TAPER....it's easy when you slam. Just pull up 2.5 instead of 3mg and start working your way down....
Welcome...

Hey Ratch, i just want to say that you are one of my new hero's man. I have heard practically zero stories of success past a year or two, and i haven't seen any other posts that have given me as much enthusiasm and confidence as yours. I KNOW that if you can get through the hell that you did then my experience should be a cake walk. Whats funny is that at day 8 i do not feel like having anything to do with cake, or walking, but lets forget that. I agree with you 100 percent that nobody should take sub for an extended period, but i also have a good feeling that i would have either done too big a shot, or been busted trying to dig into fort knox without it. You know in a way i think when this is all over i will even be thankful that sub is such an evil drug, this is because i hate even the thought of taking it, vs trying to quit h+oxys, and hating the thought of being away from them. I guess only time will tell. Anyway back to my main point and thats just simply saying THANKS and CONGRATS. I am going to keep thinking about your story until i am through this hell ive put myself in.

Hey for everybody out there, i havent found many natural supplements that help my thinking any at all, and that is how i wish to quit so its all trial and error, but today i made a sixty mile trip to a gnc at fort leonardwood and bought some l-tyrosine. I did this because my most debilitating symptom is CoMpleteLY resTLEss LEgS, and i heard that it may be due to your brain not producing enough dopamine. L-TYROSINE is supposed to help this production. I took some earlier and feel a LOT different mentally, almost like a focused happy+energy, buzz feeling, i still feel a little rls but it just doesnt seem to bother me because im happy. I will try letting everyone know how it works out further down the line, but as of today it has been a lifesaver for Me because any little improvement is a big improvement when you feel like you are about to go insane. btw i am now at day 13 off suboxone with 2 .1 mg or less slips because im a pansy ass and cant take rls.

Very difficult read...
I have been on suboxone (24 mgs day) for over 5 yrs. Ready to stop. Can the "Ultra Rapid Detox" method be used to get off suboxone like it does for pain killers! I had 6 ultra rapid detoxes in as many years 2000 to 2006 before using suboxone to eliminate my dependence to opiotes. Of course I now realize I only traded one addiction for another.

After hearing your and many others stories of the weeks and months of living hell to get off suboxone I can't help wonder if the ultra rapid detox method would eliminate that like it does for other opiotes? Does anyone know?
Thank you...
DT

http://www.mdsdrugdetox.com/rapid-suboxone-detox/ This is a site i have found that says they can RD you and have you feeling better in a week? I cant find much more useful information on the subject, and I cant personally believe that even with a rapid detox, your brain could level itself back out in anything less than 30 to 60 days. I believe that its kind of like that one post that ratch put up about your brain re-wiring itself to heal (so to speak). Just wondering, was it more you're decision to stay on such a large dose for so long, or has it been doctor advised?

I am so glad you mentioned this in this thread. Now for anyone considering RD (Rapid Opioid Detox) a method by which they put you under general anesthesia and give you Naltrexone (Not Naloxone) to strip your brain of all opioids...
Kind of like a medically induced coma during wd's.

The downside: It does NOT cure PAWS and any experienced sub jumper will tell you, the first 30 days are easy, its the next year thats the bitch .

This was an interesting post.

Sometimes I think the mental fog I'm in from the PAWS is worst than when I was on methadone.
