No problems at all until today when a headache set in, thanks for asking. I''ve the awful feeling this is going to be the case with every reduction until I'm finally free of this stuff.

I'm hoping when you get below right and go slower this won't be so bad. Didn't you say you are headache prone inn the past?

Lucy....so freaking proud of you for your grit and determination. One day you'll be able to look back and say you beat sub. I've said it before and I mean it....This is right up there with other major illnesses....so every day is a fight and I think it's harder because off the stigma. The IRL support for other diseases is in place....not for this.

I had the headaches too during the taper, they were bad, I thought maybe I had migraines or something but they went away soon as my detox started. I used to have to stop everything I was doing, shut off the lights, turn off the tv and go to sleep to get rid of it. Try putting ice on your temples or wherever the headache is, it can shrink the arteries, reduce blood flow to the brain and reduce any inflammation. It's worked for me, really took the edge off, it's definitely worth a try. Going from 32-12 mg is great progress, huge change in mindset to be able to do that, great job.

Thanks, Cheeps and Sub4Seven. I used to be prone to migraines but they've been rare for several years until the sub reductions. I'll try that ice trick, it makes sense that the cold would reduce inflammation and they are definitely vascular headaches. They usually start mild and progress over a few hours so hopefully that will nip it in the bud before it becomes a full-blown monster.

I can feel a big difference already with this lower dose. I've been reading books again. I feel much more present and I notice my personality is returning. I hadn't noticed just how blank I was until I compare it with how I am now. It spurs me on to want to be completely off this crap asap.

Hihi. Thanks for the shout-out. Doing ok, though I will stick to no more than 2mg drops from now on. On the 6th I had to take a 2mg bump dose. I woke up at 4am drenched in sweat, nauseous and feeling bad. 2mg and a short time later I was back to sleep and felt fine for the next couple of days only to repeat the same experience. Waiting for things to settle on this dose before dropping to 10mg.

What is you current dose? Do you feel like lowering it on your own? Just wondering because we all have this stubborn streak in us that says....do it anyway.....didn't know if you were entertaining that also.....

I do feel that stubborn I wanna anyway thing, but he was right when he pointed out that it's a really bad time to do it right now. In a few months things will be different. Meanwhile, I am going to continue reducing the sub at a slow but reasonable pace. I have no deadlines or pressing reasons to be off so I can take my time. But I don't want to end up languishing at 4 or 2mg either.

that stubborn thing is your drive, don't extinguish it, it will lead the way. Just be patient with yourself. Doing excellent, consider doing a 2mg drop every 30 days over next 2 months and see how it goes. You won't lose motivation, you wouldn't have gone from 32mg to 12 mg in 3 months if your eyes weren't opened, that's a win in my book all day. You're well on your way, change nothing. No use lowering benzo from 0.5 to 0.25 anyway right now, you have more pressing matters, as far as I know, 0.5mg of any benzo is very little and you can probably use the help rather than any more discomfort. Stay the course, it's working well.

Really appreciate your encouragement and advice, Sub4Seven. The 30 day time frame for drops is making sense to me. It's been 18 days since the 4mg drop to 12 and I'm still having symptoms, which really surprises me. I thought I'd be fine by now but seems like I do need longer, so I'm going to go with the way my body responds and not give in to the urge to rush ahead.

You are creating a ledgendary thread. You will eventually chronicle a 32 mg per day taper from the very beginning. Think about the people that will find this site feeling overwhelmed and even hopeless becasue they perceive that they are on such a high dose they'll never get to the lower doses. And here you are, working your way down from what is generally regarded as the highest possible dose, already pushing a 70% reduction! Hell Yea! You Rock!

Thanks, guys. I hadn't realized the reduction is such a huge percentage. It has taken a lot longer than I thought to stabilize on that last drop, even though it was a lot smaller. I guess it may be that I was still not completely stable from the 10mg drop when I went to 12. The headaches have settled down and the sweats are nowhere near what they were, but I'm still getting them. Not sure when to drop to 10 but it's been a month so I guess I should just go ahead and do it before time gets away from me.

Don't be so fast to drop to 10mg just bc it's been a month. Your brain is still catching up with all the previous drops that occurred so quickly. You can't force your way through this, your body will revolt and it's not like you can jump from 6 or 8 mg (which will take months anyway), don't put your body through that much strain for that long, you will fry your nerves. Take it easy, you are on the train, it speeds up at times, it slows down at times, it even stops at times, but it still has direction and a destination.

He is so right. Patience girl. Sometimes the best plans have to be tweaked. You sure don't have to pressure yourself...and don't for one minute doubt yourself just go with the flow and stabilize. You have to learn to feel this too. You will need it later!

You picked a fine time to leave us Lucillie.
