Scary stuff. It looks like they're really cracking down on us. An injectable formulation of Suboxone with weekly or monthly injections administered by a healthcare professional no doubt means difficult to manage self-tapers. Seems like they're shortening the chain. Happy I'm already one foot out the door.

My take on it is that this is probably intended for long-term maintenance. The manufacturer of Suboxone and the prescribing physicians usually do not, nor AFAIK have they ever recommend quitting/tapering from the drug. They want you to be on it for life....allegedly good for you...but mostly good for them because it means more $$. Another possibility is that their clock is running out and generics might someday be available. So what they do is they reinvent a slightly altered formula and/or a modified delivery system to create a "new" drug which they have a "patent" on for many years before other companies can make generics.
