Is this a good detox plan?

Postby Jenluv186 » Thu Jun 13, 2013 10:51 pm

I have a question. I've been on subs for 3 years (aforementioned), every day. Not high doses. Roughly 2mg/day. I've now tapered to .5 mg/day (or longer if I can stand it). Next week I'm tapering down to .25 mg/day or longer if I can stand it. If I do that for another week, then switch to .25 every day or so, waiting longer and longer in between doses, if over an extended period of time (a month or so) do you think i will still feel wds if I taper ever so gradually? I know every time I lower my dosage or go for longer without it I'm going to feel some wds. But if i wd a little at a time will that prevent the full blown withdrawals at the end? After a few months of skipping .25 doses every other day or so how bad could it be? Btw thank you ladies for the encouragement. You've reminded me that I can actually do it.
2/2010- Started getting subs from a friend to ease LT wds
5/10/13- Went from 4mg/day back to my original 8mg/wk.
5/29/13- Went from 8mg/wk to 8mg every two weeks.
6/11/13- Made decision to skip every other day @ 1/16 of 8mg (or as long as I can stand it)
Working to save money for the jump off sick leave.

There's no avoiding WD completely. Suffering thru months of tapering works for some people, but I'm not sure it helps with the "something to NOTHING" phase of it. Sub WD isn't very physical...it's the mental part that is a bitch. I did months of tapering but ZERO shocks the system anyway. I didn't feel any difference from jumping from .25, .5 or 1-2mg. There's no way to have a completely painless jump. But it's not as bad as you imagine. Personally, I wouldn't waste time tapering to "crumbs"..it doesn't make much difference in my eyes. Get yourself some Nerontin and a weeks worth of Valium and just do it..

Google it...for some reason it helps a lot of people in opiate detox. Some people can't tolerate it. Doctors usually don't have trouble prescribing it. It's helped lots of people here....
