No, but I have or should say was on zoloft, and a couple of others for 7 years, finally went to prozac, because of the long half life , for a few months, because you can just quit taking it, and it gradually goes of your system over 90 days. So I have been off of them for almost a year now. I recently tried Lexapro for like maybe a week or 2 but it made me feel worse so I stopped taking it.. I feel better withiout that stuff. My moods seem more stable now. and not so depressed.
Maybbe you would feel better off of them?? a few months after stopping them, I felt horrible, but I rode it out and now, I will never take another, ssri, they keep trying, but I say NO. I don't know your sits, really, so this is just what I did. I can go into more detail if you want. TD

I have run through all of the SSRI's as well and I swear they didnt do anything for me but kill my sex drive. I quit Effexor about 6 weeks ago and I STILL get brain shivers out of te blue. I feel better too being off, at least thats what the voices keep telling me...

Phew, you are right Celticpride, the AD's will kill your sex drive akin to castration and you forgot to mention put slabs of fat on your gut, face and neck. It's therefore easy to spot someone on the things. But they do help SOME people.

Far better than pills is hard exercise. The great Julius Caesar of Roman times had seizures and violent headaches all the time....except when he was out marching with his army. In my book, there are many many people who just have too much energy (and would standout if in a marching army..and be leaders)...or lack it, and these problems would never come up if they were doing physical work. But in this society, with mental pressures all around, there is no outlet for them, and they lead to so called mental problems...example when sitting in traffic, or making out your bills...after sitting around for months without letting your body dissipate the mental tension...BY EXERCISE....just like Caesar... you can't sleep, or think straight, etc....you go to doctor and he summarily gives a AD. Then you have in your mind a pain, and a voice saying, "I am taking nut pills....boom more tension and self doubt.

Just... My 2 cents...actually an analysis of myself.

So keep the pills, but get out and move. Then see if you can get rid of pills..with doctor's help.

Cp- can you describe these brain shivers more? I am also in the process of getting off Effexor. It been killing my short term memory. But I read your not supposed to CT so I am throwing out a pill a day.

John-I have to agree too with this analogy/belief. Just recently, when I was in Florida I was out walking a few miles a day and just that lifted my spirits, improved my memory and my sex life. Now that I am back in the cold I wear 3 layers of clothing and move from warm spot to warm spot. I hate the cold.

Been on most of them effexor by far the worst of them. I tried to CT it and ended up feeling very aggressive. Tapering went quick over a 2 week period. It has a relatively short half life, i only took it when feeling negative feelings during my detox from it. Daily, every other day in a decreasing dose. Never had any residual effects, but i only took it about 6 weeks, long enough to know it was all wrong for me.

I would agree with John as well, but the way society is set up today, finding time to smell the roses can be hard. We tend to get chained to this cyclic regime of daily life, packaged in a tight little schedule. Good to break the chains and switch things around a little. I never feel better then when i'm in a healthy living type lifestyle, that too can be hard to hold onto. Seems my expectations be higher then i can reach sometimes. I tend to always be looking for that next, best thing. Sometimes missing the good things going on around me in the present. Certainly physical activity/exertion is a big help in combating depression. Be it just a walk, working in the garden, playing with a child, whatever gets your heartbeat up a bit. Slowing things down a bit, living in the present and taking life as it comes, without putting or exerting our expectations on it, has its rewards as well. Living life well is difficult at best, throw in our expectations of it and it seems like an indomitable thing and we then look for ways of improving our so called moods.

they did put me on luvox like 10 years ago for OCD like symptoms. i stayed on it for 2 months. it did seem to calm some of my compulsiveness but i never really had the ruminating thoughts so i stopped it. the docs won't give me wellbutrin which is also used for ocd because my ocd is eating and wellbutrin can make you lose weight.pretty much i havent been on any ssri since 2002

I was troubled with repetitive thoughts about 3 months ago, which I never had before in my life. I don't know if that's considered an OCD, but they were driving me crazy, just two or three diff scenarios kept playing through my mind, like an obsession, I couldn't stop thinking about them... Started Prozac and within one week they completely stopped. I was also becoming more and more depressed and now, on the Prozac, I am feeling very good. Good energy and all that, in fact the only thing that bothers me is that I am on sub!

A year later and when I lay down some nights to go to sleep, I still get brain zaps, not as strong as they use to and less frequent but still there at times.
No more of that shit for me.
